Tropical Storm Cristobal

Rain! I took this photograph late afternoon on Saturday (June 6, 2020). Here is the radar right now, 7:25 PM, 6/10/20:

Earlier I photographed a Magnificent Frigatebird overhead. I remember when I first moved to Florida in the early 70s some native Floridians saying that seeing this bird means a storm is coming.

I drove around early morning to notice again how well the retention ponds collect stormwater runoff. The usual locations in the neighborhood are flooded. This is on Wildewood Drive near Pinehurst and Sherwood villages. 

Pineneedle Drive. 

Great Egret stands through rain, rain, rain, gusts of wind, lightning, and thunder trembles.

In between downpours, a photo of one of 4 Pineneedle butterfly gardens soaking it all in. 

Rains before Hurricane Hermine

Hello, Neighbors—

It's pretty rainy. The pond is growing!



Tropical storm Hermine is still at sea, 321 miles from Wildewood, moving NNE at 7 mph. They say we will have heavy rains tonight.

For the first time, I see the pond up to the orchid tree behind us. 

That Egyptian papyrus plant is usually on the pond edge. And the pump house is surrounded by water.

The drain that Bob Coomer dug recently helps the parking lot drain.
