It's the neighbors, specifically LORI

If you've been following this blog for a while, you've probably been awed by my tellings about the over 76 different species of birds photo identified in Wildewood Springs by Beth Price (and some by me), the otters, butterfly gardens, and the mid-century modern architecture. It is an extraordinary place.

However, what most people talk about as most special is the community: the caring and generous neighbors.

Well today, this happened.

I was outside and getting ready to check on the four Yellow-Crowned Night Heron nests when I saw Lori and her mom, Susan. Lori called out, "Hey Susan!" I walked toward them and Lori said, "Do you want to bike?" I thought she was asking if I wanted to go for a bike ride with them. But, that wasn't it.

She said, "I want to give you a bike."

"You want to give me a bike?"

Then she dashed off and brought out the cutest brand new green bike.

With a basket. "See, this is where you put your camera."

"And this is how you fold it up." Lori then, as if she is on one of those must-have advertisements, ten-second-quick collapses the bike to fit in the car.

I am not making this up.

Lori, I'm deeply touched.

So today must be my birthday because I have a new bike from Lori who insisted that it makes her so happy that I will ride it.

Which I did. Just wait till you see what I noticed on that bike ride.

This is Boo, and Lori's mom, Susan, walking Boo.
