Wood Stork stands in the rain

While Wood Stork stood in the rain, I sat on the porch floor with the door open to take a photograph without getting wet. Notice its pink feet. Its perch is a Southern Live Oak limb (a strong, native Florida tree).

The rain was light and then grew into a downpour. I went inside at the crack of thunder knowing this is wise, but also because two years ago our building had a lightning strike. A chunk of concrete flew off, hitting and shattering the windshield of a nearby car. We were home when this happened. The flash of light and sound happened at one time and sounded like an explosion, not thunder. We lost electronics. Neighbors lost appliances. Oh, it was sunny and not raining when this strike happened. I have a deep respect for lighting.

We await the turn of Hurricane Dorian towards the north while wishing safety to all. We are especially sad for the people of the Bahamas. I follow Levi Cowan, Tropical Tidbits. His tweets HERE. His WEBSITE.
