Seeing the Red-breasted Merganser surprised me though maps show that they can be anywhere along the shoreline. I took this photograph about this time of year two years ago. Here is an article about Merganser sightings at Snook Island in South Florida.

There is wonder in every day. Like here on Rainy Lake (Canada) when a flock of Common Mergansers swam by. I counted 67 (September 2018).
