Dombeya wallichii takes my breath away

The Dombeya (tropical hydrangea) is in bee-ball full bloom! Maybe the leaves are large to cushion the fall of bees loopy from nectar delight. Butterflies also love the blooms. What a pollinator treat.

Dombeya is grown as a shrub or small tree.

After the bloom, I'll cut it back almost to the trunk. It will leaf out in no time and spend the year getting ready for what we are enjoying right now.

Under the tree, a song of colorful blooms seems to be singing an antiphonal duet with Dombeya.

Happy New Year!
