Marsh Rabbit

Are you thinking this is a cottontail rabbit, but wonder, where is the white, fluffy tail?

This is a Marsh Rabbit, a slightly smaller version of the eastern cottontail rabbit. It does have a tail. Smaller and brown-grey in color. Besides being smaller and having a short tail, the Marsh Rabbit differs from the cottontail in another way: it's a strong swimmer! That surprises me and almost makes me want to write a tale about a swimming bunny for the grandkids.

Marsh rabbits can have up to 6 litters a year, about 2-4 to a litter. I know where this one hangs out (thick brambles, near the pond). It would be fun to connect my lens with a litter of bunnies.
