Anhinga, female in breeding plumage, 6.27.21
For a short time, a Woodlawn neighbor observed nest-building by one of the most distinctive birds in North America: the Anhinga. Anhingas build nests on branches over the water in habitats where there are branches it can spread and dry their wings. An aquatic bird, it spends its life in water or on those branches drying its wings.
For several days my long range lens captured their beauty. The following photo is of a male. Days have passed without seeing either the male and female at the nest.

Nest site: a branch over the pond. Look for their beaks.
